How do I upgrade my software?

Please select the appropriate download depending on which Multifunction Display product is being used to complete the software update.

The DSM30/300/300G v4.20 software upgrade is also inclusive of feature modifications/corrections which were introduced in prior DSM30/300/300G application software updates. Of note is the DSM30/300/300G v4.11 software update which was designed to address intermittent SeaTalkhs communications issues which may have arisen when the DSM is interfaced to a C-Series Widescreen MFD, E-Series Classic MFD, E-Series Widescreen MFD, or G-Series system. Typically, this condition would be reported within the MFD's fishfinder application as a "DSM Connection Lost" system alert and/or "No Data Source" information box. The corresponding software modifications to correct this issue are not applicable to DSM30/300/300Gs which have been interfaced to C-Series Classic MFDs.

NOTE: E-Series Classic MFDs which are interfaced to a DSM30/300/300G should be upgraded with E-Series v5.52 software.

The DSM30/300/300G Digital Sounder Module (DSM) software can be upgraded using the following MFDs:

  • C-Series Classic (C70, C80, C120)

    10. If upgrading the DSM30/300 via an E-Series Classic MFD, then the DSM must be interfaced to the MFD via one of the following means:
      • a pair of SeaTalkhs Cables having a single waterproof coupler which have been joined with SeaTalkhs Crossover Coupler or SeaTalkhs Network Switch.

If upgrading the DSM via an E-Series Widescreen MFD or C-Series Widescreen MFD, then the DSM must be interfaced to the MFD via one of the following means:

      • a SeaTalkhs cable having weatherproof couplers on each end
      • a pair of SeaTalkhs Cables having a single waterproof coupler which have been joined with SeaTalkhs Crossover Coupler or SeaTalkhs Network Switch.
    11. Power the MFD ON while keeping the DSM powered OFF.
    12. o Note: The MFD does not control the power state of the DSM. It is generally recommended that the DSM be powered by a dedicated circuit which may be switched on/off (ex. breaker, fuse panel switch, etc.). Should the DSM not be so powered onboard your vessel, it will be necessary to control the power state of the DSM by disconnecting/connecting the DSM's power cable's plug from/to the DSM whenever these procedures call for changing the power state of the DSM.

    13. After the MFD has booted to its software update application screen, select the v5.18 Bootloader Update package (DSM300_BTLD_UPD 5.18) from the Upgrade Packages Available list.
    14. Press the Upgrade Remote Unit function key.
    15. Press the Upgrade Remote Unit on Ethernet function key.
    16. Power the DSM ON. There will be a delay of approximately 10 seconds before the upgrade will commence.
      • Note: the DSM must be powered on within approximately 10 seconds of commanding Upgrade Remote Unit on Ethernet in the previous step.
      • Note: There is a 60 second delay built into the autorun utility, from the time you press Upgrade Remote Unit on Ethernet and from when you power the DSM ON.
    17. When the progress indicator reaches 100%, the DSM's boot loader software will have been upgraded to v5.18.
    18. To upgrade the DSM Application software to v4.20, repeat steps 12 through 16 (skip step 15 as the DSM is already powered ON). However within step 12, select the v4.12 Application Update package (DSM300_APP_UPD 4.20) instead of the previously selected v5.18 Bootloader Update package within the Upgrade Packages Available list.
    19. Remove the CF memory card from the MFD's memory card reader
    20. Press the CANCEL button.
    21. Press the REBOOT function key.
